1. What is KRSA?
The Kirat-Rai Society of America is a non-profit organization that strives to
(a) promote awareness of Kirat-Rai history, languages, and culture to the general U.S. public;
(b) foster constructive participation of the Kirat-Rai members in the mainstream U.S. society and support the well-being of its members; and
(c) mobilize resources to support development and humanitarian works among the Kirat-Rai in Nepal.
The general idea of this organization was brought together by Kirat Rais living in US in 2003. It was officially registered in 2004. In 2006 KRSA has achieved 501 c (3) status, which gives tax advantage on membership fees and donations to members and donors.

2. How can I contact KRSA?

All registered members have access to email and telephone number of directors, advisors and officials.

3. What kind of memberships are there and fees?
Types of Membership:
Regular Member: Any American citizen, permanent resident of the United States or resident in the United States who can trace her/his origins to the Kirat-Rai in Nepal, or who is related by marriage to such individual, and who subscribes to the Society’s aims and objectives can become a member.
Associate Member: Any non-Kirat-Rai individual who is residing in the United States and who subscribes to the aims and objectives of the Society can apply for associate membership of the Society. Such person must be recommended by at least five Society members. Associate members may neither vote nor stand for Society Office.
Corporate Member: Any private business or professional association that subscribes to the aims and objectives of the Society can
apply for corporate membership. Corporate members may neither vote nor stand for Society office.
Annual Membership fees:
Regular Membership: $15, Associate Membership: $50 and Corporate Membership: $100
For more than 4 members in a family: 10 x # of members
Student Membership: $10.00
Lifetime membership: $250.00
4. How old do I have to be to become a KRSA member?
18-years.

5. When does membership expire?
31st Dec of every year
6. How can I renew my membership?
Just by sending membership fees to KRSA treasurer.
7. What forms of payment can I make?
Write
Check or deposit to KRSA account.
8. Do you accept any other forms of donation?
Yes we accept monetary, bond and any form of secure deposits and any educational equipment like computers devices and peripherals, books etc
9. Is donation tax exempt?
Yes of course the donation is tax exempt. If you need the KRSA TAX ID for tax purpose, please contact treasurer by email.
10. How can I help or volunteer for KRSA?
Any sort of help and voluntary are always welcome. Please just contact KRSA officials about your interest.
11. How does one become part of the executive committee?
Level of voluntary interest.
12. What experiences do you need to be an executive committee?
You need basic level of organizational experience and loyal to Kirat Rai and Kirat Rai culture.
13. Can anyone become a member?
Yes as explained in "Types of Membership".
14. Do I need to be Kirat Rai to become a member?
An individual must have trace to Kirat Rai to become a regular member. Non-Kirat-Rai individual can be associate member.
15. How often do you hold a general convention and Sakewa?
KRSA hold general convention once in every three year. Next general convention will be in 2010. KRSA also host grand Sakewa along with general convention and initiates local Sakewa every year in May.
16. If there is only you as a member in that state, do you automatically become the Board of Director of that state?
No.
17. What are the benefits of being KRSA members?
• First and foremost benefit is that you will be proud to be a part of Kirat Rai US team,
• Contributor to help achieve KRSA goals,
• Meet other people and get current affairs,
• Full access of KRSA website,
• Connection and networking,
• Knowledge transfer from elders to next generation (esp. cultural experiences),
• Participation in cultural activities,
• Chance to volunteer, and give back to the community etc
18. Can a member submit a proposal for projects that meets the mission and vision of KRSA?
Yes, members are welcome to bring great ideas and submit projects and even lead the project upon board of director’s approval. All projects progress is completely transparent to members. You can write to KRSA or create a discussion thread for general ideas
on your projects.
19. What are the criteria of RFP (request for proposal of project)?
Should line with KRSA missions and fit in the budget.
